What moves, and what am I editing?

Each finger has three movable joints. The four fingers use MCP (knuckle), PIP (middle), DIP (tip). The thumb uses CMC (base / opposition), MCP, IP. Base joints bend and move sideways together. Middle and tip joints bend in one plane. Z twist is locked to zero at every finger joint, including the thumb. Locked values remain visible but cannot be edited.

X bends / straightens. Y moves the whole finger sideways at its base; it is locked at middle and tip joints. Z twist is locked everywhere. The colored arrows show the exact local axes for the selected joint. The thumb has its own angled frame. These are model editing axes, not measured medical joint angles. Try a small positive or negative change to see its direction. Joint positions and segment lengths stay fixed.

The wrist follows the live palm orientation. Saved poses change only finger rotations, so recognizing a fist does not freeze the wrist. Structural locks also apply to imported poses. Additional limits on unlocked axes are optional. Saved examples and limits stay in this browser; export JSON to back them up or move them to another PC.
